Here it goes, I’m going to try meal planning (for suppers, at least)…let’s hope it sticks! I’m including, along with my meal planning, some things I need to do to keep my meals moving. It’ll make sense as you see it.
Monday: eat at mom’s bring smashed new potatoes and zucchini (remove lemon balm and wheat from dehydrator and soak nuts and granola, dry nuts overnight, grind wheat, freeze chicken broth)
Tuesday: chicken soup for lunch and Fried Rice for supper (remove nuts from dehydrator, dry granola overnight, start bread before bed, start beef broth)
Wednesday: Yogurt with Granola for breakfast, clean out the fridge for lunch, Tostadas with fresh salsa and guacamole for supper (bake bread, make food for zoo day)
Thursday: zoo day, eating out for supper but planning on a wonderful chicken salad, greens, fresh fruit, and lavender lemonade lunch! breakfast on the run will likely be bananas, cheese, and granola (roast out of freezer for tomorrow)
Friday: farm day so day two of breakfast on the run, this time likely a bagel with fried egg, lunch will be very dependent on when we get home (likely PB and J at the last minute!) and then for supper Beef Roast with potatoes, garlic, and whatever veggies need used up (premake food for reunion)
Saturday: family reunion, bring tomato and cucumber salad, zucchini casserole, bread, and macaroons (morning market, look for veggies to freeze/dehydrate for winter)
Sunday: I can’t think that far in advance, but I do know we’ll have eggs for breakfast. We will likely eat dinner with one set of our parents and whatever is leftover in our fridge will be consumed for lunch.
I plan on reporting next week how I did on this weeks meal planning. I really think that if I can get into the habit of doing this that I will be able to not only save on waste (which really is not an issue with us), get the whole family to be eating foods better for us, and also maybe save a little in the grocery area of our budget. Please let me know if you are interested in any recipes for items in my meal plan and I’ll post them and (hopefully) link them as well in this post for future reference.
