So far the farm is saying we are good to go for a few more weeks. I’m pleased seeing as we got a late start to the season this year.
This weeks haul:
- 4 heirloom tomatoes
- 4 standard
- 2 onions
- 1 quart of jalapenos
- 3 bell peppers
- 1 cantaloupe
- 6 pears
- 8 apples
- 1 cauliflower
…and advice on canning as well. It seems there is a run on canning supplies in our area. Starting about three weeks ago you couldn’t find any jars at any of the stores. Our farmers called up to a state away until they finally found some and are getting a half pallet of both pints and quarts shipped in for people to buy. The wife has canned for years and years and is full of advice. Our farmers are always good for a bit of advice and I greatly appreciate all their help.
You can’t find any canning jars here, either. I got enough for our meager amount of canning, and I have a box of pints left over if I decide to make jam.
